Herbatint: Natural Herbal Permanent Hair Colour That Respects Your Hair & Scalp

Herbatint: Natural Herbal Permanent Hair Colour That Respects Your Hair & Scalp

1.  Why Choose a Gentler Permanent Hair Colour

Many people want permanent colour but dread the damage, strong smells, scalp irritation, or harsh chemicals that often come with box dyes. At My Natural Health, we believe you should be able to have vibrant, long‑lasting hair colour without compromising hair health or your comfort. That’s why we love Herbatint — it offers full, permanent colour that’s kinder to scalp, hair fibres, and the environment.

2. What Makes Herbatint Special

Here are the key features of Herbatint that set it apart:

  • Ammonia‑free / Paraben‑free / Resorcinol‑free — no harsh alkalis to lift the cuticle aggressively.

  • Very low hydrogen peroxide concentration (less than ~3% after mixing) — much gentler than many permanent dyes.

  • Free from perfume, alcohol, strong fragrance — reducing risk of irritation.

  •  Contains 8 organic herbal extracts to nourish, protect and enhance shine.

  • Dermatologically tested on sensitive skin and formulated for good skin compatibility.

  • Cruelty‑free, vegan, gluten‑free, and packaged in FSC certified cardboard.

3. Herbatint’s Herbal Extracts & Natural Ingredients

Herbatint isn’t just “a gentler permanent dye” — its formulation is enriched with herbal actives that help protect and nourish. Key extracts:

Extract Benefit
Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Protects and soothes scalp, has anti‑inflammatory properties; helps colour penetrate without harsh damage.
Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam Seed Oil) Restores natural lipid barrier, adds shine and moisture.
Witch Hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana) Helps calm irritation; toning action for skin & scalp.
Birch (Betula Alba) Acts as a tonic, helps strengthen fibres.
Echinacea (Echinacea Angustifolia) Nourishing root strength; supports healthier hair growth.
Walnut Husk (Juglans Regia) Adds depth, enhances colour reflections.
Rhubarb Root (Rheum Palmatum) Natural colour enhancers, helps in balancing tones.
Cinchona Bark (Cinchona Calisaya) Sebum‑regulating and colouring benefits; protects scalp & helps colour achieve even result.

These work together in the gel formulation, which is gentler than liquid or cream dyes with strong alkali.

4. Choosing Your Shade – A Practical Guide

Getting the right colour starts with understanding a few basics:

  • Herbatint shades are numbered with Natural (N) series from 1N (Black) up to 10N (Platinum Blonde). Use your root colour (current natural hair closest to scalp) to choose your base.

  • If you want to change your tone (golden, ash, copper, mahogany etc.), you can mix shades. For example, mix your natural with a golden tone to warm up, or an ash tone for cooler effects.

  • For those with 50% or more grey hair, using a combination of Natural + fashion shades helps ensure even coverage.

  • Herbatint allows you to lighten up to 2 shades from your natural colour. Going beyond that often requires bleaching which is more damaging.

5. How to Apply Herbatint Safely & Effectively

Here’s a step‑by‑step guide to applying Herbatint for best results (and safety):

Before You Begin

  • Patch test first: 48 hours before application, mix a small amount of colour + developer and apply behind the ear or on inner arm. Wait 48 hours. If redness, itching, burning occurs, do not proceed.

  • Work in a well‑ventilated area. Wear gloves and protect clothing and surfaces.

Application Steps

  1. Prepare the mixture:
Mix equal parts of Herbatint colour gel and developer (1:1) in a non‑metal bowl.

  2. Apply on dry, unwashed hair (ideally hair washed ~24 hours earlier). Natural oils help protect scalp.

  3. Section your hair into 4 parts (divide top/bottom, then left/right) for even coverage. Starting at roots, then length and ends. If you’re doing root touch up only, focus on roots first, then lengths for last 5‑10 minutes.

  4. Processing time: Leave colour on for ~40 minutes. Do not shorten or extend this time.

  5. Rinse & condition: Rinse until water runs clear. Shampoo with a Colour‑Safe or the included normalising shampoo, then apply the Royal Cream Regenerating Conditioner to seal and restore moisture.

6. Aftercare Tips to Maintain Colour & Hair Health

To help your Herbatint colour stay vibrant longer and minimize damage:

  • Use colour‑safe, sulphate‑free shampoos and conditioners.

  • Wash with lukewarm or cooler water — hot water accelerates fading.

  • Minimise heat styling; when using heat, use a good heat protectant.

  • Protect hair from sun exposure (hats, UV sprays) since UV light fades colour.

  • Deep condition weekly (or every 1‑2 weeks) to replenish moisture and maintain shine.

  • For root touch‑ups, avoid applying full colour over lengths every time — only treat roots until needed to avoid over‑colouring ends.

7. FAQs – Common Questions Answered

Question Answer
Will Herbatint cover grey hair? Yes — Herbatint offers 100% grey coverage in the first application. For higher amounts of grey, mixing with a Natural shade helps ensure even coverage.
Is the formula safe / gentle for sensitive scalps? It is formulated to be gentler: ammonia‑free, low peroxide, free of strong fragrances, parabens, resorcinol, alcohol. It’s also dermatologically tested. Always patch test first.
Can I mix shades? Absolutely. Mixing shades is one of Herbatint’s strengths — you can create warmer, cooler or more vibrant looks by combining Natural with Ash, Copper, Golden etc.
How much product do I need? Depends on hair length / thickness. For roots only vs full head will vary. Herbatint packs are usually 60ml colour + 60ml developer, gloves, shampoo/conditioner sachets. Enough for most single full applications unless you have very long or thick hair.
How long does the colour last & fade rate? Permanent dyes last until new hair growth comes in; colour will fade gradually with washing, sun exposure, etc. Proper after‑care slows fading significantly.
